EPA Chief Breaks Precedent With Spending on Travel, Security, and Responding to Death Threats.
Security costs concerning Environmental Protection Agency administrator Scott Pruitt have gone through the roof after he received death threats.
CNN says that Pruitt has 24/7 security detail, which no previous EPA chief has ever received.
Salaries for Pruitt's new security detail will cost at least $2 million per year, and that doesn’t include costs for training, equipment and travel -- all coming as the Trump administration plans to cut the EPA’s budget by 30 percent.
The EPA’s inspector general’s office says that Pruitt has received more death threats than any of his predecessors and has launched more than 70 investigations into threats against him and others.
The new agents will join an unprecedented security apparatus for Pruitt, which includes a 24/7 detail and a soundproof communications booth in his office that cost $25,000 to install. The EPA’s inspector general’s office said Pruitt has received more death threats than any prior EPA administrator.
Where's all this money coming from? The taxpayers.
